I also use fentanyl with the patch covers that mylan sends me. However I sweat a lot and sometimes can't even get fentanyl to stick even with the cover. Can't even find good TAPE (like hospitals use to keep dressings on securely, why can't regular people buy that tape?)that will hold the edges on. At our store, you will find fentanyl in all forms – injections, oral tablets, lollipops, nasal sprays, lozenges, and patches with top brands such as Duragesic, mylan and more. However, we know you are interested in fentanyl patches, and we will offer precisely that.

... and stay in place all you have to do is call the company at 18007969526 and request the ASKINADERM overlay for your patch. You will need your prescription lot number which is located on the bottom of your box and on the individual packages. To re - order all you do is call 18008480461 ext 4330. I hope this helps others. I was having a really difficult time getting my patches to stick so I looked up and contacted the company and they helped me out. Please call them if you need the askinaderm overlays for your patches

Thank you for this. I can use it to help others with a similar issue. Was never a problem for me but many do have the issue.

Is that number for the Butrans patch?

Hi, can you also let others know if they are on the Duragesic brand fentanyl patches made by Janssen they also provide a 800 phone number on the box to call. You will need your information off the box to give them. They will send you the Bioclusive covers for free. I couldn't have worn mine without them. I also hopes this might help someone.

For mines to stick good... I would clean my skin with alcohol where im sticking the patch at and than let it dry.than I'll apply the patch on my skin. Now if it doesn't won't to stick after that, than ill put a targa on it.the stuff they put over your I.v. to hold it steal. But u would have to ask the nurse to give u a couple of them.

I, too, thank you for this information. I was on the patch for 4 years but having a hard time getting them to stick and therefore wasn't getting full effects. I truly want to get back in the patch and now have an answer to getting full benefit.

According to Mylan, the Bioclusive patch cover will work as well. I have been using NexCare Tegaderms with the PAR gel patches and that worked really well, but my pharmacy (KMart) switched to AVEVA by Apotex silicon matrix patches. They stay on well. And I think they work better without the Tegaderm covers, but they aren't nearly as effective as the PAR gel patches. The pain relief (or lack thereof) is not nearly as good and steady as the PAR gels.
Do we have any input from other users of either the Mylan (which I may try) or the AVEVA patches?

What is PAR.? I also use fentanyl with the patch covers that mylan sends me. However I sweat a lot and sometimes can't even get fentanyl to stick even with the cover. Can't even find good TAPE (like hospitals use to keep dressings on securely, why can't regular people buy that tape?)that will hold the edges on. I keep buying more and more rolls that med supply store sells, that don't stick. Is everyone paying more each month for fentanyl? Now over $75 after ins. Sometimes I have to wrap ace bandage lightly??? around arm to keep it there. Clothing loosens patch on my back.
Anyone have any more solutions to non sticking problems???

I was told that it was safe to use the 3M Transpore tape. It is breathable so it allows air to pass through. It works for me. Every once in awhile a side will loosen a bit, but I usually feel it before it loosens the patch itself and I will just put another piece of tape on to cover it.

Mallinckrodt will definitely send you patches also which are the tagaderm YET ,IVE HAD THIS ISSUE FOR 3 FULL YEARS AND UNTIL WE ACTUALLY CONTACT THE FDA TO MAKE A REPORT AND THE FDA GETS 3 REPORTS THEN THE COMPANIES DO NOT NEED TO EVEN TRY TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. The manufacturers are fully aware of the problem yet don't want to be bothered with the exspences of correcting it because it is cheaper for patients to actually not know what to do and suffer either buying their own tape or to follow their instructions of tossing the patch that fell off and applying a new patch ,therefore needing more of their product . But do they know how difficult it is to get these to begin with? Let alone having to skip showering to prevent the patches from falling off .
It's not going to be changed until 2 other people contact the fda because I'm 99percent sure that I only investigated it so far because I worked in pharmacy for well over a decade and WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO EVEN TELL PATIENTS AND MOST DOCTORS OR PHARMACIST DONT EVEN KNOW THIS . I ONLINE KNOW BECAUSE THIS HAPPENED TO ALMOST EVERY PATIENT I EVER HAD ON THIS MEDICATION. IT WAS ONLY FOR A VERY SPECIFIC PATIENT THAT TRIED TO REPORT THIS TO THE STATE BOARD OF PHARMACY WHO THEN CONTACTED US WITH AN INVESTIGATION OF HOW WE HANDLED HER ISSUES BUT THE CASE WAS DROPPED BECAUSE WE WERE NOT LEGALLY RESPONSIBLE TO DELIVER THE INFORMATION TO THE PATIENT BY LAW. PLEASE FOR ALL OF OUR SAKE MAKE A SIMPLE CALL TO THE FDA AND REPORT THE ADHESIVE ISSUE SO WE GET THE CORRECT DOSAGE OF OUR MEDICATION. IF WE WERE NOT SICK WE WOULD NOT HAVE TO NEED IT , BUT since we are we ALL DESERVE ACCURATE MEDICATION.

You can get those at your pharmacy that's where I get them there called tagaderm

Oh my gosh I have had soooo many of my patches fall off from sweat, and the pharmacists begin to look at you sideways. I knew I was not crazy and this helps me feel so much better now that I know about this. THANK YOU, you may have just saved me a huge huge ongoing hassle. I will speak to my dr about this tomorrow as she has been so patient and understanding. This has truly been the best news in months.

This information is still valid. BUT if your trying to get through the phone expect it to take forever to 1. Get a real person even using the ext. listed! I tried for two days before reaching a live body!!
So expect a wait from hell! They don’t call back when you leave a message either!
So it’s a valid program but maybe it gets easier after the first order and it is free!

I had a problem with Mylan patch breaking me out leaving bubbles and sometimes breaking skin. The pharmacist is working with me to place my order with a different manufacturer so that it may help me. However I also sweat while I sleep so I need something to cover it. I will have to check the information to see if this cover will help me out too.

My doctor recommended a patch that allows air to pass through it so the fentanyl patch still works properly. The name of the patch he recommended was Tegaderm which I used for a long time. I finally found out that Walgreen's has their own version which is labeled Transparent Waterproof Dressings. I had my Dr. check them and he said they were fine. They cost Several dollars less per box then the others and also come in several sizes to completely cover the fentanyl patch. I've used these for several years and have not lost a patch with it.

My pharmacy is only going to carry the Mallinckrodt brand now. I have been on Mylan brand for many years because it doesn't have gel. Can anyone tell me if the Mallinckrodt brand has gel and also tell what it looks like? I'm like one of the other person who said their arm's are thin & I had much luck with Mylan and scared to make the change... I prefer a clear, flat patch that's not very noticeable. Thanks for anyone's answer.

I’m not a fan of mylan brand anything but, compared to Mallonckrodt. I read the compounds of both generics & the brand. Every one is different & different generics are stronger then, others. They are allowed to be off by about 20% in the active formula compared to brand drugs... usually, mylan is at the bottom- compared to Mallonckrodt it’s actually a little stronger. Mallonckrodt Patch is a little bigger than, Mylan. I’m not sure about the gel. Just try it. The dose can be adjusted- if, it has less effect on your pain. It’s also good to try different generic meds because, of the percentages are all different... once, you find the one that works best for you. Tell your doctor to request it/write it on your script. The pharmacy will have to order it.
For now , it’s better than nothing & may work out better- never know

I am only familiar with the Mylan brand however, about 10 years ago they changed from a gel pouch to what they call a matrix style. I have found that the matrix type burns my skin and they are not as strong. I try to get the gel type to avoid all of the extra pain and the burns on my skin. In my experience the matrix patch is the flat one I think you are referring to. When Mylan changed their manufacturing I had to double my dosage. Since then I have done the research and my Pharmacist is so kind and works with me to find the gel type. I was able to reduce the dosage to the original dosage. Occasionally they cannot get the gel type and rather than go through withdrawal, I have to use the matix type but I cannot walk very well and the pain becomes debilitating.
Sadly there are those people who abuse the gel patch and do not use it as prescribed; I'm sure you have read some of the horror stories, and they overdose. Unfortunately those are the people who ruin it and make things more difficult for those of use who follow the rules.
I hope this helps you.

Thanks for your answer. You are so right about the horror stories. WOW My pharmacy was S/O the Mylan but like I said they are not able to do anymore. Thanks again

The Mallinckrodt patch is clear and flat (matrix style), but thicker than the Mylan patch. I just switched to this brand 2 months ago (from Sandoz brand) and it’s not working well for me pain-wise and is burning my skin. However, for me, the Mylan patch does not provide any relief. I would say that the Mallinckrodt does work better and does provide some relief. It’s just not as effective as the Sandoz patch I had been on for years. I now have to find a new generic to try. I wish you luck.
dao195517 Jul 2018
Thanks so much. I'm hoping it's gonna work for me just as Mylan. Mylan brand carried me for 48hrs & I change every 48hrs instead of 72hrs. I'm thinking that I'm gonna be ok. Thanks again.

Have you had any luck? I only use the Sandoz brand..I hate the aveenda & the Mylan does not work for me at all. If you find anything comparable to Sandoz please let me know so I can have my pharmacist order it. The others don’t help me at all
ChrisMDe9 Jan 2019
I ended up working with my pharmacy to find a brand that worked. I ended up finding success with the ALVOGEN brand. It’s also a matrix style patch and very similar to my previously discontinued Sandoz patch. I am on a regimen of changing my patch every 48 hours, which I also previously did with the Sandoz brand. It continues to work well for me.

I have been on the Mallinckrodt brand for several years after my pharmacy stopped carrying the Mylan brand. Other than the Mallinckrodt being a bit larger, it is the same type of patch where you can't see the gel. I personally haven't noticed a difference in pain relief. I am very thin and liked the Mylan brand because of their small size (although the Mallinckrodt is still small and nowhere near the size of a Duragesic-style gel patch). But if you want to stay with the Mylan brand, I learned a few years ago that CVS has a contract with Mylan, so unless they no longer have a contract, you can always try going there (but I'd call first to make sure they still carry them). Good luck.

I have been on the Fentanyl Duragesic Pain Patches for 30 years (on and off), but for most of the time. I have tried pretty much every brand from the brand name Duragesic (made by Johnson n Johnson), Sandoz, Mylan, Mallinckrodt, etc. I am a small person also and I am allergic to the adhesive on the patches that have the gel so I am limited to certain brands. I found the Duragesic name brand was the best, but naturally the insurance company doesn't want to cover it. Sandoz is a good brand, but I was told that they are no longer making those. Being from a small town, our pharmacies only carry the Mylan or Mallinckrodt brand. To me, the Mallenkroft works better, fits on my chest area, isn't the gel and last for the 48 hours that I am prescribed. The Mallenkroft is a stiffer patch than the Mylan, but I put waterproof, sensitive medical tape on top of patch so that it lays flat to be sure I am getting good skin contact. Good luck and hope that this helps you.
